Neurochikungunya could be a major threat: Ahmedabad doctors

The department of medicine at NHL municipal college is in grips after a 62-year old man with chikungunya succumbed to the disease after neurological and renal complications.



Earlier this year, a 64-year old man with chikunguya had also suffered similar complications- encephalomyelitis caused by viral infection that affected the myelin. There was another case reported in West Bengal too. Doctors have now urged the government to take an initiative to screen for neurological disorders in chikungunya cases.
