India Today Oct 25, 2018

The forensic medicine department of All India Institue of Medical Sciences, Delhi has collaborated with the women and child development ministry to open a national 'one-stop' centre for survivors of sexual assault.

Dr. Sudhir Gupta, the head of department, forensic sciences at AIIMS said that the centres will work on the joint efforts between doctors and the legal authorities. The centre will be India's first Nodal National Centre to quickly process evidence and findings in sexual assault cases. Such cases are currently handled in the emergency department of hospitals, where doctors are not trained to follow strict protocol for evidence and sample collection.
