Potential role and significance of ocular demodicosis in patients with concomitant refractory herpetic keratitis

Clinical Ophthalmology Dec 25, 2020

Hung KH, Lan YH, Lin JY, et al. - In this retrospective and noncomparative case series, researchers sought to assess the role of Demodex infestation of the eyelids in patients with recurrent herpetic keratitis. Twenty-seven patients with ocular demodicosis and recurrent herpetic keratitis under conventional treatments were recruited. Demographic data and clinical photographs were obtained. In patients with unstable recurrent herpetic keratitis, ocular demodicosis should be considered. The progression of herpetic corneal infection can be curbed by a timely diagnosis and adequate care.
