Influence of UV filters on the texture profile and efficacy of a cosmetic formulation

International Journal of Cosmetic Science Sep 07, 2017

Shirata MMF, et al. – The objective here was to scrutinize the influence of UV filters on the properties and immediate effects of a cosmetic formulation. A negative influence was determined by the presence of sunscreens on immediate skin hydration and transepidermal water loss. In contrast, it positively affected the parameters associated with the physical properties of the multifunctional formulation and skin microrelief. The influence of UV filters on the development of cosmetic formulations, therefore, was a significant aspect to be taken into account since it could display either positive or negative effects on the efficacy of the product.
