Chebib I, et al. - This paper entailed the characterization of the histologic features of cystic lesions submitted as “synovial cysts” of the spine. Varied types of cysts were illustrated through the histology of “synovial cysts” of the spine, in which a large proportion was not synovial lined cysts but rather exhibited pseudocystic degenerative changes of the ligamentum flavum frequently related to very characteristic finely granular calcifications and foreign body giant cell reaction. The yielded data could demonstrate implications in comprehending the pathogenesis of these lesions and in their varied response to non-surgical interventions.
