Correlation of serum vascular adhesion protein-1 with airflow limitation and quality of life in stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Respiratory Medicine Oct 19, 2017

Amani M, et al. - This study assessed stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients for serum vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1) level and its correlation with airflow limitation and health-related quality of life using the COPD Assessment Test (CAT). Findings demonstrated that an increase in serum VAP-1 level was obvious with an increasing severity of obstruction. Furthermore, this increase was found to be related to a reduced quality of life and increased severity of hypoxia. Overall, it was indicated that inhibiting serum VAP-1 level in this patient population may be a useful management strategy.
