Clinical Infectious Diseases Jul 21, 2018

Izurieta HS, et al. - Researchers assessed the links between statins and risks of influenza-related encounters among those getting vaccines. Researchers performed a retrospective cohort study including Medicare beneficiaries aged > 65 years who received high-dose or standard-dose influenza vaccines at pharmacies from 2010–2011 through 2014–2015. On analyzing 2.8 million Medicare beneficiaries, they identified no marked influence of statin use around the time of vaccination on the risk of influenza-related medical encounters among older adults.
