Dermatologic Therapy Apr 20, 2018

Won YY, et al. - Authors evaluated the clinical efficacy of oral 5 α-reductase inhibitors such as finasteride in women with female pattern hair loss (FPHL). They retrospectively evaluated premenopausal or postmenopausal patients with FPHL who were prescribed finasteride at a dose of 2.5 mg/day. As per the data, for patients with FPHL, the administration of finasteride at a dose of 2.5 mg/day was seen to be efficacious. Experts noted that when patients had a lower Ludwig score and an older age at onset finasteride had a better effect on hair growth.
