Comparative study of anterior segment measurements using 3 different instruments in myopic patients after ICL implantation

BMC Ophthalmology Aug 20, 2019

Wan T, et al. - By using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT), Pentacam and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM), researchers contrasted and correlated anterior segment measurements of myopic eyes implanted with Implantable Collamer lens (ICL V4c). In 82 phakic myopic eyes of 82 patients undergoing ICL surgery, anterior chamber depth (ACD), distance between corneal endothelium and anterior surface of ICL (C-ICL) and central vault were evaluated by continuous use of AS-OCT, Pentacam and UBM at 3 months of follow-up. By using Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and the Bland-Altman plot, the correlation and agreement of instruments were accessed. According to findings, AS-OCT showed significantly higher value, while Pentacam showed significantly lower value for ACD, C-ICL and central vault measurements after ICL surgery in myopic eyes than UBM. Measurements were extremely linked with these instruments, but particularly for the vault, they could not substitute each other. This research gave useful data on how to evaluate the outcomes from distinct instruments of anterior segment eye parameters implanted with ICL V4c.
