Water shortage at GT hospital, over 70 surgeries postponed
Times of India Oct 30, 2018
Ever since the withdrawal of monsoons, Gokuldas Tejpal (GT) hospital in Crawford market has been facing an extreme water crisis, with the hospital having to postpone nearly 70 surgeries in the last 20 days.
The hospital superintendent, Dr. Vikas Miandad mentioned that on an average the hospital conducts 15 to 20 major and minor surgeries in a day, and ever since the water crisis began 20 days ago, the numbers have had to be dropped to almost half. Another senior doctor mentioned that even though a certain number of surgeries are scheduled for each day, they cannot be certain if they will happen. If the available water is finished by the second or third surgery, the other surgeries are postponed.
