Students and doctors of Mumbai medical college and hospital protest against reduced PG seats

Fress Press Journal Apr 10, 2019

Doctors and postgraduate students of Lokmanya Tilak Medical College, Sion, Mumbai on 10 April staged a silent protest against reservations and expressed their dismay over the reduction in the number of seats for the general category.

This news comes right after the newly introduced reservation policies for Maratha and EWS (economically weaker sections). The students alleged that only 4% of seats are alloted for general category students applying through state quota.

The reservation could likely impact 50 to 60% of medical students. Students and parents feel that meritorius and truly deserving candidates are losing out on the chance to pursue fields of their choice.
