Probe ordered in death of girl: Medical Superintendent

Medical Superintendent of Rajinder Prasad Govt Medical College Tanda on July 17 ordered an inquiry to probe in to the allegations of the attendants of a girl patient from Chanderot village, who died in the Hospital following a snake bite.

 


She died because of the negligence of the doctors as no senior doctor was available in the emergency when the girl was brought there on July 15 evening for the treatment. Medical Superintendent Gurdharshan Gupta told UNI that Dr Deeraj Kapoor, Head of the Medicine
Department was entrusted with the inquiry in the case. Dr Gupta said if any one was found guilty will be dealt with according to the law of the land.

According to the reports, a B.Sc final year student resident of Chanderot village had a snake bite on July 15 evening at her home and she was rushed to DRPGM College Tanda. The father of the girl alleged and told UNI that she was brought to the emergency of the medical college, where according to him there was no senior doctor to attend to the patient.

The attendants alleged that the girl was not attended properly and when her condition deteriorated, a number of doctors came but the girl patient could not be saved. The parent said if the senior doctors had attended the patient immediately after she arrived in the emergency she might have survived. The attendants and relatives of the victim girl protested on July 16 after the girl died against the alleged negligence of the doctors in treating the patient and raised slogans against the college authorities.

They did not allow holding the post-mortem of the deceased girl and took her body without autopsy. Police force was rushed to Tanda medical college however there was no law and order situation so there was no need to use the force. Medical Superintendent Dr. Gupta said the girl patient had a snake bite at 6.00 pm on July 16 and arrived at 7.00 pm in the hospital emergency wing. He said that she was put on treatment and later put on ventilator before she died on Monday afternoon. He said as some doubts cropped up in the minds of the attendants so an inquiry was ordered on July 17.
