Mumbai hospital refuses admission to suicidal patient
Times of India Dec 05, 2018
A Mumbai hospital on December 4 denied admission to a patient battling mental illness and attempting suicide by stabbing himself in the abdomen.

This is the second incident since last week that a hospital has turned away a mentally ill patient refusing to admit them despite having attempted suicide. Last week, Lilavati hospital refused admission to a man who was battling depression and attempted suicide. In this case, the 70-year old was found at his home with stab wounds by his nephew. After giving him emergency first-aid, the patient's nephew realised that he was battling depression and took him to Holy Family Hospital, Bandra. But the hospital refused to admit him. Psychiatrists have said that this isn't the first time hospitals have refused to admit such patients. This practice is quite rampant in India.
