Man held for illegally selling ' Tocilizumab ' in Mumbai

The city police on August 4 arrested a man, who was illegally selling 'Tocilizumab', a drug in research for treating COVID-19 patients.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Police jointly laid a trap and caught a person, a resident of Kashipur in Uttarakhand who found selling Tocilizumab at Rs. 1 lakh per vial whose MRP is Rs. 40,000, police said. A total of 15 vials of Tocilizumab were seized from him. Preliminary investigation revealed that he brought these vials from Delhi market, police said. An FIR was registered at Bandra police station. Tocilizumab and Remdesivir, two drugs that are still undergoing trials as possible treatment for COVID-19, are in huge demand.
