A 43-year-old lady anaesthetist on January 2 allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at the hospital co-owned by her in Sinnar tehsil of this district, informed the police.

According to police, the deceased identified as Vaijayanti Kakde and her husband Dr Abhijit Kakde owned and managed a hospital located at the Nashik-Pune Highway. In the late midnight of January 2, the deceased's husband woke up from sleep and did not find his wife anywhere around the house.

Later, he went to the terrace in her search and discovered her body lying at the place, added police. The Sinnar Police reached the spot and conducted a probe. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the suicide.
