KMC to organise rallies against malaria & dengue on Feb 2

UNI Feb 01, 2019

To create awareness on malaria and dengue, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will take out massive rallies throughout the city on February 2.

Rallies will be taken out in all the 144 wards. There will be placards and posters to create awareness against malaria and dengue.
The one to be taken out from the KMC headquarters on SN Banerjee Road will be led by the mayor. It will march through Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Lenin Sarani, Wellington Square AND SN Banerjee Road, and end at the KMC headquarters.

The rallies in the wards will be led by the local councillors, along with important residents of the area. Representatives of various NGOs and Durga Puja committees along with celebrities will be taking part in the rallies. It may be mentioned in this regard that various Durga Puja committees had taken a leading part in spreading awareness on dengue during Durga Puja, and the KMC had awarded the most-effective campaigns. The KMC has 15 dengue detection centres and blood collection centres in every ward. Every centre is manned by doctors and testing of blood samples is free.
