Jipmer launches Internet Radio

JIPMER, Puducherry on 22 March launched JIPMER Internet Radio, the first of its kind in India to be launched by a government medical hospital to spread information regarding medical services amongst patients, public, and faculty.

 


Jawharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) on 22 March launched the “Jipmer Internet Radio’, ‘TV Studio’&‘Digital Signages’ ,the first of its kind in the country in a Government Medical Institution with the help of Government of India Organisation BECIL (Broadcast Engineering Consultant India Limited) under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB). According to a release from Jipmer, Dr Subhash Chandra Parija, Director, Jipmer launched the facility in the presence of Prof Dr Ravi Kumar Chittoria, Chairman of JIPMER Community Radio Committee, BECIL Director Col. D.R. Gogoi among others.

Speaking on the occssion Dr.Parija said that Digital Signages will disseminate information to patients, public, staff and faculty regarding services of Jipmer, Hospital information, diseases and policies of Union government. He further informed that BECIL is helping JIPMER in bringing Community Radio Station (CRS) in Karaikal Campus also. BECIL Director Col. D.R. Gogoi said that through Internet Radio, Jipmer will become Global Medical Institute.’ Jipmer Radio App’ can be downloaded and various health related programmes can be listened. Recorded contents can also be downloaded later in case program is missed by public.

Member Secretary of JIPMER Community Radio Dr. Mahalaksmi informed that the various content programmes for Digital Signages and Internet Radio will be recorded in TV Studio developed in JIPMER Academic Centre (JAC). According to Medical Superintendent Dr. Ashok Sankar Badhe various operative procedures and programmes can be recorded in Jipmer and displayed on Signages and broadcasted through internet Radio. He said that 100 signages are being installed in various buildings of Jipmer.
