Infrastructure boost for MKCG Medical College

 Infrastructure at the MKCG Medical College today got a boost with the inauguration of five newly constructed multistorey buildings, including the super speciality block.

 

 

 

 



The new buildings, constructed at a cost of over Rs 109 crore, were inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.Apart from a four-storey super speciality building with capacity of 300 beds, which cost around Rs 55.36 crore, the chief minister also inaugurated a two-storey auditorium with the a capacity of around 1,500 seats (Rs 9.72-crore), lecture theatre and laboratory complex for nursing school (Rs 13.08 crore), three-storey building for nursing students to accommodate 300 students (Rs 12.67-crore) and 200-bed hostel for senior resident doctors (Rs 18.39 crore), officials said.

The inauguration of the super speciality block assumes significance as some of the departments operating in the old building in indoor patient department (IPD) can shift there immediately. The old building has been declared unsafe, said officials."We will shift some departments to the new super speciality block from the old building, said superintendent of the medical college Khetrabasi Subudhi.During his visit to the town, Patnaik also opened a railway over bridge between Goshaninuagan and Goods-shed Road.A half-km long bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 46 crore, they said.
