IGMC registers 1st case of swine flu this year

After conducting over hundred tests this year, the Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla registered its first swine flu case on 23rd March.
Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla registered its first case of Swine Flu as one local youth was admitted to the hospital on 23rd March evening, senior medical officer said on 24th March. Senior Medical Superintendent, Dr Ramesh Chand told UNI over phone that the 20-year-old youth belonging to Shimla was admitted to IGMC after positive analysis of his samples on 24th March.
He said that this is first positive case of H1N1 virus this year, however, IGMC had conducted more than hundred tests for the deadly fever this year. He said that nearly 250 cases of HINI were registered last year in the state and it took lives of more than twenty people.
He informed that the patient is under medical supervision and recuperating in the 'isolation wards' in the hospital. Mr Chand said that the doctors have advised people to immediately rush the patient to IGMC if they suspect any symptoms of Swine Flu. The state was providing free treatment for swine Flu and all essential drugs are available in the Hospital.
