The Union Health Ministry has selected the district hospital in Kanhangad near here for its award for quality in health care and overall cleanliness, an official informed on 22nd August.

The award by the Ministry carries a citation and a financial aid of Rs 40 lakh each for the next three years. According to the district panchayat authorities it was for the first time ever that a district hospital in Kerala is selected for the accolade. The yearly aid will be utilised for enhancing the healthcare facilities at the 400-bed hospital, the district panchayat president A G C Basheer said.
