HCG, the Specialist in Cancer Care on July 6 organized an innovative experience platform for the medical fraternity, wherein doctors got a unique hands-on experience on a fully functional robot.

The event was organised at HCG, Ahmedabad with an aim to help doctors understand the finer nuances of Robotic Technology in a better manner. The HCG team had especially stationed a roving robot at their center and invited experts to visit and experience the simplicity of da Vinci Si surgical system which consists of exceptional features like dual-console capability to support training and collaboration during minimally invasive surgery and enhanced high-definition 3D vision for superior clinical capability.

This technologically sound surgical system has advanced 3D HD visualization with up to 10x magnification and an immersive view of the operative field, instrumentation to replicate range of motion far greater than the human hand and motion technology, which reproduces the experience of open surgery by preserving natural eye-hand-instrument alignment. However, HCG Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad houses an advanced version - da Vinci Surgical System Xi, through which the experienced team of experts have conducted more than 300 robotic surgeries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jagdish Kothari, Director & Consultant GI Oncosurgery at HCG Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, said, "There have been several innovations in how the treatments have been imparted to cancer patients over the years. Surgery has been moving to a more radical approach like robotic surgery which imparts a number of benefits to the patient, a few of which are shorter hospital stay, less post-operative morbidity, minimally invasive and faster recovery. The purpose of this exercise was to share an insight of new trends and empower the upcoming generation of doctors with the latest technology in cancer treatment."

Speaking more on this, Dr. Bharat Gadhavi, Regional Director - HCG Group, Gujarat and CEO at HCG Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, said, "According to the statistic, new cancer cases or their incidence in India is estimated to grow.
