A doctor – accused of sexually exploiting a student for eight years on the pretext of teaching her – was placed under arrest in Bhopal on December 4, law-enforcement authorities said.

The physician was associated with Madhya Pradesh’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, which expelled him from its primary membership for a period of six years after a first information report was registered. A fortnight back, the victim – who hails from this district headquarters and is studying chartered accountancy in Pune – lodged a complaint against Dr. Piyush Saxena who is acquainted with the woman’s family. The physician had even shot an obscene video and was blackmailing the victim.
