Bengal Govt revamping health infrastructure in the Hills

The West Bengal Health and Family Welfare Department is revamping the health infrastructure in the Hills.


Several hospitals and health centres are being renovated with the addition of facilities. Repairs are also taking place at several places.
The Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC) in Mirik has been upgraded to a 100-bed sub-divisional hospital. Among other things, a blood bank, separate medical and surgical wards for male and female patients, a separate paediatric unit with facilities of Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) and a High-Dependency Unit (HDU) with six beds would be set up.

A CT scan machine will be installed on a PPP model at the Darjeeling District Hospital. A Blood Component Separation Unit (BCSU) will also be set up here. The rural health centre in Bijanbari, BPHC in Takdah and primary health centre in Lodharma would undergo renovation and repair work. The number of beds at the Kurseong Sub-divisional Hospital will be increased from 120 to 200.
