Hindustan Times Nov 24, 2018

Resident doctors at all seven of Rajasthan's government medical colleges have gone on an indefinite strike since November 22 to protest a police investigation that was launched after a female patient at Zenana hospital affiliated to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, Ajmer complained of sexual harassment in the labour ward.

The President of Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors (JARD), Dr. Vijay Singh Chaudhary said that police officials barged into the labour ward claiming that an FIR was launched against the duty officer. They did not oblige to standard protocol and humiliated a doctor who tried to intervene.

Doctors from JLN Medical College went on strike on November 20 and the next day other government medical college doctors joined the strike to offer support. Meanwhile, the SHO of the police station the FIR was lodged at said that police personnel had only gone to the hospital to speak with the senior-most doctor, to narrow down on the doctors who were on duty in the ward, the day the incident took place.
