Cloth masks are no use to protect the homeless from air pollution: Doctors
Hindustan Times Nov 13, 2018
Doctors have slammed the Delhi government's decision to distribute cloth masks to the homeless people residing in shelters, mentioning that they do not offer any kind of protection from the air pollution.
Homeless people are more vulnerable to the health risks of air pollution as they live in the open, often in very unhygienic conditions, and cloth masks offer no protection and may even be harmful for people with cardiac issues, claim health experts. Doctors said that the cloth masks are of no use when it comes to filtering PM 2.5 and PM 1 particles.
