The #metoo movement seems to have sparked off reactions in the field of medicine too.
Dr. Sylvia Karpagam has accused the former head of the department of community medicine at St John’s Medical College and Hospital, Bengaluru, of sexual harassment when she was pursuing post-graduate studies in Community medicine in the year 1999-2000. She alleges that Dr. Amar would frequently interrupt her and other students with inappropriate touches and sexually explicit language. Dr. Sylvia Karpagam also mentions that her complaints about this behaviour to the dean of the college went unheeded.

Dr. Amar has, however,  denied the charge.
