Columbia Asia, a leading hospital chain is all set invest USD 210 mn it had raised in March 2018, for expansion of its operations across Asia, including in India by 2020.

Columbia Asia’s India revenue for FY 18 grew 16 per cent year on year and at a CAGR of 15 percent over the last 4 years, according to a release on September 25. “Last year as a group, we grew stronger, with a 20 percent year on year growth in revenues. We believe in adhering to high standard of ethics – this has enabled us to gain the trust of patients and payers. We know that our model of care works well in India and we will continue our expansion plans to serve the people of India even better,” said Dr. Kelvin Loh, Group Chief Executive Officer.

Through the cluster strategies, we can realize economies of scale despite most of our hospitals have less than 200 beds. Columbia Asia presently has 30 medical facilities in 4 countries, including at Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Vietnam, serving more than 2.5 million outpatients yearly in fields of orthopedics, internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics & gynecology.

In its India operations, they have built 1-3 hospitals per year since its inception in 2005. The matured hospitals see more than 20,000 patients in a month and contributes to over USD 2 million in revenue. In the development pipeline, the second hospital in Pune is slated to open in 2020.
