Centre to launch campaign against anti-microbial resistance: Nadda

IANS Feb 16, 2017

Several ministries, including of health and agriculture, will come together on February 22 to launch a campaign against anti-microbial resistance (AMR), Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said on Wednesday.

Anti-microbial resistant bacteria are responsible for high-mortality diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhea and sepsis.

Other ministries to be involved are of pharmaceutical and environment, among others, Nadda said addressing the media. Stating that ministries cannot move separately on the same issue, Nadda said there needs to be a collective approach.

He said that the 27.77 per cent increase in budget allocation for health will help the government in eradicating several diseases in a targeted time.
