5-day free plastic surgery camp from Dec 13 in Aurangabad

A five-day free plastic surgery camp will be organised jointly by Lions club of Aurangabad Chikalthana, Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) Medical Research Center and Aurangabad Chemist and Druggists Association at MGM campus from December 13.

 

 



Addressing a press conference here on Friday, project chairman Lions Rajendra Lohia said the camp is held every year on December 13, the birthday of late Padmashree Dr. Sharadkumar Dicksheet. This is the 42nd year of the camp. As many as 12,700 total surgeries have been performed here in last 41 years, he said, adding that this year they expect to perform more than 800 surgeries and 2,000 to 2,500 checkups during the five-day camp.


Dr. Dicksheet performed 2.5 lakh free plastic surgeries in 40 cities across the country during the past 35 years and he passed away on November 14, 2011 in the US.Now his disciples Dr. Raj Lalla and Dr. Vijay Moradiya, who are settled in America, will perform surgeries.
After the demise of Dr. Dicksheet , both come every year here for performing surgeries in memory of Dr. Dicksheet.
Surgeries, including cleft lips, squint, scars revision, cleft pallet, squint and Nasal deformities will be performed by the doctors during the camps. Aurangabad Chemist and Druggist association will provide all the medicines free of cost for the surgeries and MGM hospital will provide operation theater and qualified doctors and nursing staff, he said.
