A second-year medical student from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana was found to be hanging at his hostel room on December 4.

The deceased has been identified as Ishaan Bhatia. He was found by his father who had come to meet him as part of a weekly visit. The father later told the police that, though his son was excellent in studies, he was under a lot of mental stress. The boy had also closed all social media accounts and discontinued the use of his cell phone in the last one month. He was also under treatment for depressions for over a year.
