Government to depute special team to hospitals, medical colleges to inspect bio-medical waste

The administration would depute a special team to visit all hospitals and medical colleges here to inspect the bio-medical waste generation source and to ensure their proper collection and disposal as prescribed in the Bio-Medical waste management rules 2016.


A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held under the Chairmanship of District collector on 18th October, an official release said on 19th October. The Collector instructed the Solid Waste Management company engaged with the collection of Bi-Medical waste to ensure the collection regularly in order to avoid any mixing of it with the regular garbage collection. He also ordered that licence of hospitals and Medical Colleges which have failed to follow the procedures laid down under the Bio-medical Waste management rules shall be cancelled immediately. Representatives from Health, Pollution Control, LAD, PWD, Indian Medical Association and Bio-Medical Waste management company participated in the meeting.
