A man has been found hanging in a hospital in West Bengal's Malda district, police said.

He was a resident of Balurghat in neighbouring Dakshin Dinajpur district, was found hanging by his neck in the bathroom of Malda Medical College and Hospital on September 16 night, an officer said. The body was discovered by his wife when she came to visit him, the officer of English Bazar police station said.

The deceased was admitted to the medical college since September 15 with stomach ache, hospital superintendent Amit Dan said.
He was referred to the medical college from Balurghat District Hospital, Dan said. The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death, the police officer said. A case has been registered and investigation started, he added.
