Withdrawal of pharmacological treatment for heart failure in patients with recovered dilated cardiomyopathy (TRED-HF): An open-label, pilot, randomised trial
The Lancet Jan 13, 2019
Halliday BP, et al. - In this open-label, pilot, randomized trial, authors assessed 51 patients to investigate the impact of withdrawal of heart failure medications in those who recovered from dilated cardiomyopathy. Participants were recruited between April 21, 2016 and August 22, 2017. They observed no patient deaths but recorded three serious adverse incidents in the treatment withdrawal group, including hospital admissions for non-cardiac chest pain, sepsis, and an elective procedure. They recommended continuing treatment until better predictors for relapse are found.
