Visual outcomes and associated factors of primary congenital glaucoma in children
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Jun 06, 2021
Lee HJ, Kim YK, Jeoung JW, et al. - In this investigation involving 44 patients (71 eyes), researchers sought to assess the long-term visual outcomes in children with primary congenital glaucoma and determine the factors associated with the final visual outcomes. Records of children with primary congenital glaucoma between 2005 and 2016, seen at Seoul National University Children’s Hospital in South Korea, have been reviewed. Intraocular pressure control and the optic disc configuration over time are important factors associated with visual outcomes in children with primary congenital glaucoma. Regular follow-up and correction of refractive errors, as well as occlusion for those with a difference in VA between the two eyes, may be beneficial in achieving better visual outcomes.
