Visual field characteristics of type I Boston keratoprosthesis patients without glaucoma
Journal of Glaucoma Jun 12, 2021
Quercia AZF, Silva LD, de Oliveira F, et al. - Researchers conducted this cross-sectional prospective noninterventional study to determine visual field findings in Boston type 1-KPro (BI-KPro) patients without glaucoma. The sample consisted of patients (n = 6 patients, 6 eyes) with BI-KPro who had normal optical coherence tomography and fundoscopic evaluation of the optic disc and retina. None of them had a history of glaucoma. All patients underwent visual acuity, reliable and reproducible standard automated perimetry (24-2 and 30-2), and manual perimetry examinations. Patients with BI-KPro had reliable and reproductive visual field measurements. The authors discovered a consistent decrease in visual field extension and a decrease in global sensitivity in these patients. The patients had a good quality of life scores despite visual field changes. Overall, these findings could help improve early glaucoma diagnosis and follow-up on BI-KPro patients.
