Vendor-neutral right ventricular strain measurement

Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Apr 04, 2018

Gao Z, et al. - Whether the use of a vendor-neutral platform to assess right ventricular (RV) strain is feasible and reliable, was determined in patients who underwent elective coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Intra- and inter-observer variability between RV strain assessments were compared in order to determine the reliability. Additionally, strain’s correlation with conventional RV functional parameters was also assessed in order to evaluate its feasibility as a RV systolic functional assessment tool. Findings demonstrated the feasibility of evaluating RV strain across multiple platforms in a reproducible and reliable fashion. Good correlation of RV strain with conventional RV functional parameters was noted. This indicated its feasibility as a sensitive RV function assessment tool.
