Simon EL, et al. - In this study, researchers investigated variation in hospital admission rates for identical diagnoses among the same group of physicians according to clinical setting. In their health-care system, a trend towards a 20% lower admission rates for chest pain, COPD, asthma and CHF was observed with freestanding emergency departments.
