Variability in optical coherence tomography angiography interpretation in a cohort of retina specialists

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Jul 03, 2019

Prenner S, et al. - In a cohort of retina specialists, researchers studied the variability in optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) image interpretation. A survey was created that consists of a study set of 12-eye images examined by OCTA. The survey was completed by 38 physicians. The data generated were analyzed and interpreted subsequently. The estimated alpha coefficient was 0.366 for the overall data. In this cohort of retina specialists, there is significant variability in the interpretation of OCTA images. Overall data showed no high reliability or agreement in image interpretation, suggesting the need for further study of this nascent technology.
