Use of distraction techniques for the management of anxiety and fear in pediatric dental practice: A systematic review of randomized controlled trials

International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry Mar 29, 2019

Prado IM, et al. - In the Randomized controlled trials (RCTs), investigators assessed the data to examine the consequences of distraction techniques (DT) (an instrument used to measure dental anxiety and dental fear, and dental procedure) for the management of anxiety and fear in pediatric dental treatment. They included 21 studies covering several types of DT like audio, audiovisual, modeling, instruments camouflage, biofeedback, dental-operating microscope, and toys. They reported a very low certainty of evidence that DT efficiently decreased dental anxiety and fear depending on the distraction type.
