Urinary L-FABP level in children with nephrotic syndrome and tubular dysfunction

Pediatrics International Mar 06, 2018

Nishida M, et al. - Experts intended to examine the urinary liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (uL-FABP) levels in patients with a relapsing nephrotic syndrome and tubular dysfunction in the pediatric cohort. A prominent association was discovered between uL-FABP level with the amount of urinary protein excretion in patients with the steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS), and in the analysis with the total subjects. Data disclosed that the amount of urinary protein and proximal tubular function as the site of reabsorbing low-molecular-weight proteins ought to be taken into account for assessing the clinical importance of uL-FABP level as a biomarker for kidney injury in children.
