Urethroplasty after urethral urolume stent: An international multicenter experience
Urology May 14, 2018
Angulo JC, et al. - This retrospective international multicenter study examined the outcomes and factors affecting success of urethroplasty in patients with stricture recurrence after Urolume urethral stent. A scrutiny was performed of the stricture and stent length, time between urethral stent insertion and urethroplasty, age, mode of stent retrieval, type of urethroplasty, complications and baseline and post-urethroplasty voiding parameters. Data displayed that urethroplasty in patients with Urolume urethral stents served as a viable option for reconstruction with a high success rate, exhibiting very acceptable complication rate. It was noted that several techniques were viable. Nonetheless, significantly better outcomes were yielded via urethral preservation, tine-by-tine stent extraction and use of buccal mucosa graft (BMG) augmentation.
