When compared to younger adults, adults who were 65 years and older, hospitalized with fever or respiratory symptoms during influenza season displayed a less likelihood of having a provider-ordered influenza test. Some of this disparity was the result of a lower tendency of influenza-like illness (ILI) presentation, but not all.
