Twenty-year results after connective tissue grafts and guided tissue regeneration for root coverage
Journal of Periodontology Sep 02, 2019
Petsos H, et al. - Using bioabsorbable barriers for root coverage therapy, researchers conducted this randomized, clinically controlled study to compare the clinical results 20 years after connective tissue graftings (CTGs) performed with those of guided tissue regeneration (GTR) therapy. Initially, according to random assignment, 15 patients with 38 Miller class I and II recession defects had CTG or GTR. At the 240 ± 12-month follow-up, eight patients contributed 23 recessions. According to findings, long-term root coverage stability and patient-perceived aesthetic results at 20 years after surgery did not indicate important distinctions between CTG and GTR.
