Trends and outcomes of aortic valve replacement in patient with end stage renal disease on hemodialysis
The American Journal of Cardiology Aug 11, 2017
Aljohani S, et al. – The goal of this study was to assess contemporary utilization and outcomes of combined and isolated aortic valve replacement (AVR) in hemodialysis patients. As per findings, an increase in AVR utilization in hemodialysis patients was noted, along with a decline in its associated mortality, over the last decade. However, AVR mortality in hemodialysis patients remained twofold higher compared with non–hemodialysis patients. Additionally, AVR incurred high expense in hemodialysis patients and was associated with longer hospitalizations and more frequent non–home discharges.
