Treatment response and outcome with two different prednisolone regimens in autoimmune hepatitis
Digestive Diseases and Sciences Sep 09, 2017
Purnak T, et al. - The authors conducted this study to compared two regimens for treatment naive autoimmune hepatitis (AIH): one recommended protocol with an initial prednisolone dose of 30 mg/day and their own 40 mg/day prednisolone with a slow dose tapering protocol. Furthermore, the safety, response rates, and outcomes for two groups of treated patients were examined. The real-world experience recommended that an initial prednisolone dose of 40 mg/day with a slower tapering protocol induced an earlier biochemical response, tended to result in fewer relapses during maintenance, and was correlated with a better disease outcome.
