Fink B, et al. - Researchers assessed the follow-up data of patients with extensive gluteus muscle tears who underwent osseous fixation with securement of the suture anchor by a non-resorbable collagen patch, to determine if clinical outcomes depended on the extent of the fatty degeneration of the gluteus medius. This surgical technique appeared to yield very promising outcomes for the treatment of extensive tearing of the gluteus musculature that has a degree of fatty degeneration less than 50%.
