Time to sputum culture conversion and treatment outcomes among patients with isoniazid-resistant tuberculosis in Atlanta, Georgia

Schechter MC, et al. – The physicians aimed to investigate the effect of isoniazid–resistance and treatment regimen, including the use of a fluoroquinolone, on clinical outcomes. They found no significant association with isoniazid–resistance and time to sputum culture conversion (tSCC) or initial treatment outcomes. The cases of recurrence and acquired–drug were concerning and highlighted the need for longer term follow–up studies, while patients with isoniazid–resistant tuberculosis (TB) had a high cure rate.
