Researchers also determined if the time in inactive disease before MTX withdrawal was related to the risk of flare of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Ineffectiveness and achieving inactive disease were the most common reasons for methotrexate (MTX) discontinuation. MTX intolerance was the most frequently reported AE. Significantly lower flare rate was noted in the patients who spent at least 12 months in inactive disease before MTX discontinuation.
