Thoracic paravertebral block for postoperative pain management after renal surgery: A randomised controlled trial

European Journal of Anaesthesiology Aug 09, 2017

Copik M, et al. – Researchers assessed the efficacy of thoracic paravertebral block (ThPVB) in attenuating opioid needs and pain intensity following renal surgery. Findings demonstrated that provision of preoperative ThPVB as a part of a multimodal analgesia regimen in these subjects resulted in a reduction in opioid consumption and pain intensity. Additionally, methods and drugs used in both groups were well tolerated with no serious adverse events. Patient satisfaction was more in the ThPVB group, compared with the control group.
