The use of computed tomography in the diagnosis of abdominal cocoon

Gorsi U, et al. - The diagnosis of abdominal cocoon was exploratively examined by the researchers with the aid of contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) outside the setting of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Findings reported that CT presented as a valuable tool for pre-operative diagnosis of abdominal cocoon. The CT signs possibly included the cauliflower sign, concertina pattern and the novel Bottle Gourd sign. It was noted that the classical described signs were observed more frequently in patients with intestinal obstruction (IO).
